The Stutthof Museum was established thanks to the efforts of former prisoners of the Stutthof camp, by a resolution of the Presidium of the Provincial National Council in Gdańsk on March 12, 1962. It is a state cultural institution subordinate to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo fulfills its obligation towards the collections and society, in particular the permanent protection of cultural goods, providing information about the values and contents of the collected collections, disseminating the basic values of Polish and world history, science and culture, shaping cognitive and aesthetic sensitivity and enabling contact with the collections.
