The Museum in Ostróda is an independent cultural institution established on September 20, 2000 on the basis of the previously existing Agency for the Protection of Cultural Property - Museum Chamber. The founding body is the Ostróda Municipality. The city's current location at the intersection of two routes leading from the south from Warsaw to Gdańsk and from the west into north-eastern Poland makes the city an important place on the map of the region. The creation of a city museum became a natural need.
