The history of the complex begins in the 1930s. To effectively defend the Kriegsmarine naval base, the German command decided to build a coastal artillery battery.
After the end of World War II, the former German shelters were taken over by the Polish Army and then rebuilt into a backup command post. It was from this place that the Polish Army units were to be commanded during the attack on the west. It was at this base that an order was to be issued that could have resulted in the atomic destruction of the entire world.
Underground City on Wolin Island - a complex of coastal artillery batteries, an underground complex of shelters built in 1936–1938 in Świnoujście on Wolin Island, entered into the register of immovable monuments of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship; open to the public.
