On Saturday, March 2, 2019 once again, mining industry workers from Silesia and their families competed with each other on the Cieńków slope in Wisła. The Mining Industry Skiing Competition in Giant Slalom for the Minister of Energy's Cup, as usual, provided many sporting emotions.
The competition of the competitors taking part in the competition was accompanied by an event in the animation zone created by PGG Family partners and competition sponsors. Thanks to the Partners, there was no shortage of emotions among the players, but also among the fans and supporters of the event participating in numerous competitions and games with attractive prizes.
The event started at 9:00 a.m. with a performance of the mining orchestra. The competition started promptly at 10:00 after the briefing of managers and players. 23 teams from mining plants were registered for this year's competition, with a total of 235 competitors who competed in ten age categories.
Group I girls up to 12 years of age (born in 2007 and younger)
Group II boys up to 12 years of age (born in 2007 and younger)
Group III girls aged 13-19 (born in 2000-2006)
Group IV boys aged 13-19 (born in 2000-2006)
Group V women above 20 years old (born in 1999 and older)
Group VI retirees (regardless of age)
Group VII women (regardless of age)
Group VIII men over the age of 41 years old (born in 1978 and older)
Group IX men aged 31-40 (born 1979-1988)
Group X men up to 30 years of age (born 1989 and younger)
The results from the groups of players - employees from VII to X were taken into account for the team scoring.
Ultimately, the first team place - the 3rd Cup of the Minister of Energy - was won by the representatives of the ROW I Mine from PGG. The second team place and the KW Holding President's Cup went to the Knurów Mine - Szczygłowice team from JSW, and the third place and the PGG President's Cup went to the team of ROW II, also from PGG.
The fastest competitor among the employees was Tomasz Pająk - representative of JSW (Budryk Mine) with a time of 24.17 seconds and received the Cup of the Mayor of Wisła. The fastest woman was Mrs. Joanna Patas from PGG (ROW). She overcame the slalom with a time of 32.32 s and received the NAT President's Cup. The winners received commemorative cups and attractive prizes. Fastest Competitor and Female Competitor min. a week's stay in NAT hotels, a car for the weekend with a full tank of fuel and a weekend stay at the Jastrzębia Turnia Guesthouse in Zakopane.
The oldest and youngest player were also awarded. The oldest participant of the competition was Mr. Andrzej Mazurek from the Borynia mine in JSW, and the youngest was Oliwier Praus - the son of an employee of the PGG Headquarters.
Of course, there were many wonderful guests at the 3rd Mining Industry Ski Competition for the Minister of Energy's Cup. Deputy Minister Grzegorz Tobiszowski personally presented the awards to the players and congratulated everyone on their sports spirit. He was accompanied by the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Jakub Chełstowski and Vice-Marshal Wojciech Kałuża, Wisła Secretary Sylwester Fołtyn, NAT President Lucjan Karasiewicz and Vice-President Aleksander Wierzba, as well as the head of the NAT Supervisory Board Michał Tomaszowski and members of the NAT Supervisory Board - Dariusz Potyrała, Antoni Cyrys and Antoni Augustyn. The cups of the President of the Polish Mining Group were presented by Vice-President Jerzy Janczewski and Vice-President Piotr Bojarski. Members of parliament were also present: senator Adam Gawęda and MP Grzegorz Matusiak. He shared the joy of victories with miners, among others. vice-president of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, Tomasz Śledź, and mine directors, company presidents, representatives and presidents of sponsors.
